Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
Simran: I am Simran Chhabra. I have my own Jewellery brand that is like a baby to me. I love to create accessories in a way that people can relate to them inside out. I have a dream and I believe that anything can be achieved if we work towards that goal.
What inspired you to start this business?
Simran: My life inspired me. I wanted to create things that people can relate to. I wanted to dress people in a way that’s modern and has a twist of its own and that’s how La Differencia came into existence.
What is your USP?
Simran: Creativity being number one. Connectivity the other. By this I mean that the stuff that I create, I believe people can relate to it a lot more and thus it makes my product special.
How someone can start the same business as yours in terms of investment, material procurement, production, and marketing etc?
Simran: It has to be well thought out, planned and accordingly executed. Cost management plays a big role and one must be fully devoted towards their work.
Any challenge you face in your profession and how you overcome that?
What are your plans for the future?
Simran: Right now, I want to work with both domestic and international designers and get better at my craft. Rest I believe will follow.
How you manage your personal and professional life?
Simran: It is very important in life to prioritize things and balance them efficiently. I love my job and accordingly it’s my biggest priority. I love working but one should know where to draw a line between personal and professional life. Thus i keep taking breaks and i have my friends and family as my support system.
What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?
Simran: I think Girl Boss by Sophia Amorusois is a good read.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Simran: I strongly believe that anything and everything is possible. I believe in the Japanese quote: ‘Fall down seven times, stand up eight’. No matter how many times you fall, never lose hope. Get up, shake off the dust and start again.
Second thing, keep your eyes open. Literally anything can inspire you.
Lastly, believe in yourself and your work.
Anything you want to mention here….
Simran: Just believe in yourself and everything will fall in place.
